I made this sculpture by manipulating law book text pages into a tree stump form. My intent is to express the need for better environmental laws and practices. The world’s forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Each year about 13 million hectares of the world’s forests are lost due to deforestation.

Deforestation is the second leading contributor to carbon emissions causing global warming. The cutting of the world’s old growth forests and tropical rain forests is causing unprecedented loss of species and seriously unbalances the earth’s ecosystem. We need stronger domestic and international forest policies.
